Unless you’ve been marooned on a desert island for the past 10 years, you’ll know that event technology has boomed. From drones to facial recognition, virtual reality to augmented reality there are so many new technologies available to enhance your event.
Yet with so much choice available how do you decide which technology will best fit your budget and brief? We’ve put together our top tips for how to choose technology to enhance your event.
Define your objectives
It can be easy to be wowed by a piece of technology that, in reality, has absolutely no benefit to your event. If you can define your event technology objectives ahead of the process you will be much less likely to purchase something that doesn’t work.
Try before you buy
Online demos are great for gaining an understanding of a particular piece of technology, but there is no substitute for trying it our yourself. Ask technology providers for a demonstration of the product to help you make the right decision, this also gives you a chance to ask questions.
Check compatibility with the venue
Most venues are well versed for modern technology, but it is always worth checking that the technology is compatible with the venue’s existing systems to avoid any hiccups around the event.
Survey attendees
It’s surprising how many event organisers don’t work closely with their event attendees when putting an event together to ensure it is what they need. Surveys and polls are a great way of understanding attendees’ technology requirements and gaining a deeper understanding of what they would like to see at the event.
Ask for case studies
Finally, case studies are a great asset for technology companies and most will have a handful that demonstrate how the technology has fitted the brief. Ask potential clients for client case studies which will give you an idea of the results the technology has achieved for others.
